Circle of time in the moonlit sky over the Great Mound of Dowth, one of the three gigantic passage tombs in the Boyne Valley, Co. Meath, Ireland.
Dowth is believed to have been built around 5,000 years ago, during the middle to late Neolithic. Although there have been no modern excavations in the chambers of Dowth it seems most likely that it was built during the same period as the large passage tombs of Knowth and Newgrange. Both of these were radiocarbon dated to the centuries between 3,200-2,900BC.
