Irelands most noted Stone Circle, perhaps a little over restored but definitely the most visited.
The name Drombeg means 'little ridge' and at this spot sometime in the bronze age, ancient people carved a platform in the hill side and built Drombeg stone circle and the various domestic remains scattered about.
The circle has a fine view of the valley below and the sea is visible along part of the horizon. It is possible to climb the ridge above the circle and view it from above, just one other reason why Drombeg is so popular. It is very easy to access the site and it has its own carpark and ransacked 'information cabin'.
