Knowth East features the finest carved basin in Ireland in its northern recess, this massive bowl has been finely shaped and carved, probably before the chamber was built as it is too large to carry through the passage.
Inside the basin is an expertly carved design.
The rear recess is accessed through large portal stones which feature more of the fluid linear designs so characteristic of the unique Knowth carving work.
