A very ruined circle of massive stones, overlooked by the cairns on the Loughcrew hills.
This is one of the least known and visited monuments around the Loughcrew hills, but when you have the amazing cairns and their wonderful art so nearby you have to offer something special to get noticed. This ruined circle almost does, but then any of these stones still remaining would make fine solitary monuments.
Of a probable nine stones, four remain fully upright.
All of the standing stones are over 2m high and many more large slabs lie broken and trodden on in the grass around the circle and further into the field. Its hard to picture how it once would have looked but it must have been a very fine circle indeed.
Behind this superbly weathered stone you can make out the shape of Cairn T on Carnbane East.
A view towards Patrickstown Hill, past the most northern stone.
To the west this curious arrangement of stones protrude from the ground beside a leaning upright.
The same group of stones from another angle, facing roughly south east.
This is the southernmost stone and also the tallest.
A panoramic view looking roughly north.
